History

In the early 60s, Rodney and Madeleine brought their two daughters, Sheryl and Beverly, and their son, Harvey, tp a place known by the name of "Candy Hill". They would usually go there on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.” Candy Hill” was located two miles from Stanstead on the road to Baldwin Mills, now the site of the restored Compton train station . (Scott was not yet born at that time!)

After stowing five soda pops and five chocolate bars in the trunk of the car, Rodney would cleverly hide them in the tall grass as we was supposedly checking a soft tire on the car. During this time, the three youngsters would set out to find these treats. (We never realised that the mountain had coincidentally provided us with the exact amount of snacks needed for our family!)

A family outing

If we, at Stevens Orchard, were to have a mission, , we would like it to be the same experience Rodney and Madeleine had with their children some fifty years ago, that is to say, to spend quality family time exhangingyour thoughts and dreams while discovering and taking in an enchanting look at the beautiful mountains of the Eastern Townships Eastern Townships.

We encourage families to bring their blanket and picnic basket to relive the experience of "Candy Hill" at the Stevens Orchard. However instead of chocolate bars, we would recommend a more nutritious snack with biodegradable packaging, such as our good delicious and juicy apples! From our picnic table, you can see Lake Memphremagog, Jay Peak, Owls Head, Mount Orford, Mont Sutton, the U.S. and Canadian border and the village of Stanstead. This part of the orchard is open all year for you to come watch and enjoy the wonderful scenery.
